Feasibility of Pellet Material Incorporating Anti-Stripping Emulsifier and Slaked Lime for Pothole Restoration

Climate change has caused a surge in abnormal weather patterns, leading to rise cracks, plastic deformation, and pothole damage on road surfaces. In order fabricate ready-mix admixture of warm asphalt mixture (WMA) for restoration, this study aimed develop neutralized anti-stripping material pellet form by extruding combination slaked lime liquid emulsifier additive. Slaked (1% weight aggregate) was chosen its ability enhance moisture resistance, while (wax + vegetable oil surfactant water) added create pellet-type stripping inhibitor WMA. After successfully fabricating the admixture, evaluated performance two mixtures: conventional Lime Hot Mix Asphalt (LHMA) Pellet-Type Anti-Stripping Warm (PWMA). Several compatibility tests were conducted evaluate quality developed material. The results showed that fatigue resistance (PWMA) improved over 20%, indicating an extended life pavement. LHMA PWMA met standard mixtures, with TSR value approximately 83%. Both mixtures demonstrated rutting compared HMA. required 16,500 cycles, 19,650 cycles reach settlement 20 mm, better than control mix (13,481 cycles). modified performed properly Cantabro test, loss rates below their retain aggregate structure. also superior 12.5% lower phase angle (35°) at reduced frequency 10−3. general, application not only prolongs pavement lifespan but reduces production temperature °C, emissions energy consumption. This makes it environmentally friendly option applications contributes sustainable construction practices.
